Launching in 2027

Ideas-Shared is built on the belief that people should have greater opportunity to participate in improving the conditions that matter to them. Yet knowledge, confidence, capability, resources and access to supportive networks are not equally distributed.

The Ideas-Shared Foundation is being established to help reduce those barriers — enabling more individuals, informal groups and communities to develop ambitions, build capability, connect with others and participate meaningfully in creating better personal and societal outcomes.

Our aim is simple: to enable more people to participate in improving the conditions that shape their lives and the lives of others.

Why

Meaningful progress often begins when somebody recognises that something could be better and chooses to do something about it.

But the opportunity to act is not equally available. People can lack knowledge, confidence, connections, resources or simply access to environments where their ambitions can be developed and supported.

The Foundation will help widen that opportunity, particularly where greater participation and capability could make a meaningful difference.

What

The Foundation will support activities that help people develop the knowledge, skills, confidence, capabilities and relationships needed to pursue worthwhile ambitions.

This is expected to include education and learning, sponsored participation, community capability building, research, grants and partnerships with organisations that share the ambition of enabling more people to participate in creating positive change.

The objective is not to determine what people should aspire to, but to strengthen their ability to decide and act for themselves.

What We Hope to Leave Behind

The Foundation’s ambition extends beyond individual programmes or initiatives.

We want more people to have the confidence and capability to shape their own futures, more communities able to organise around what matters to them, and more knowledge and opportunity passed from one generation to the next.

As part of the wider Ideas-Shared ecosystem, the Foundation will seek to increase humanity’s capacity to work together around worthwhile ambitions and create meaningful outcomes.

Because perhaps one of the most valuable things we can leave behind is a greater ability for those who follow to improve what matters to them.
