Did you know that Ideas-Shared has been developed part-time by one individual since December 2018?
Not by a large technology company. Not by a team of developers working to an investor-funded deadline. Not through a major corporate transformation programme.
One person, working around other commitments, steadily building an idea into something that others could eventually use.
Evenings. Weekends. Problems to solve. Decisions to make. Things that worked. Things that had to be redesigned. And, throughout it all, the same underlying question:
How can we make it easier for anyone to turn what matters to them into meaningful action with others?
This is not a story about one person being able to do everything.
It is a story about what can begin with one person — and why the next chapter needs many more.
It Started With a Simple Realisation
People everywhere have ambitions.
They want to improve their lives, pursue opportunities, solve problems, help others, change how things work, protect what matters and create things that do not yet exist.
But ambition alone is rarely enough.
People need knowledge, connections, capabilities, opportunities and, sometimes, other people willing to work alongside them.
The challenge was not simply to create another place where people could express opinions or share ideas.
It was to create a practical way for people to find one another, organise participation and work towards outcomes.
That became the ambition behind Ideas-Shared.
Building Something You Wish Already Existed
Developing Ideas-Shared has meant working through questions that are easy to underestimate.
How can an individual begin without needing an organisation behind them?
How can an informal group participate alongside a business, charity or public body?
How can someone join an activity without having to lead it?
How can a question, idea, problem, event, request for help or larger ambition all have a place in the same network?
How can people organise delivery when it is needed, without forcing every activity into a complicated project structure?
And how can the whole thing remain simple enough for someone to start?
These questions shaped the Global Hub, the activity listings, the participation pathways and the seven-step operating model.
The result has taken years of part-time development.
Sophisticated in what it enables. Simple in how someone can begin.
Now Comes the Part That One Person Cannot Do
One person can build a starting point.
One person cannot supply the ambitions, experiences, knowledge, ideas and capabilities of everyone who might use it.
That is where you come in.
Ideas-Shared is now available for individuals, informal groups and organisations to explore and use.
You might have a personal ambition you have never acted on. You might see a problem in your community. You might have an idea for your business, a question about the wider world or experience that could help someone else.
You do not have to arrive with a fully formed plan.
You can explore existing activities, contribute to something another person has started, or create a listing of your own and invite others to participate.
The next stage of Ideas-Shared will be shaped by what people choose to do with it.
We Are Starting Small — Deliberately
A global participation network does not become global simply because it is available online.
It grows when people begin using it, discover its value, bring others in and build on what has already started.
That is why we are beginning with a founding community.
The first 1,000 founding members can join in 2026 and receive free lifetime membership. No credit card required.
It is an opportunity to get involved at an early stage, explore the Global Hub, introduce ambitions and activities, and help demonstrate what becomes possible when participation is easier to organise.
There is no expectation that every member must launch a major project.
Some will start something. Some will contribute. Some will share a listing with the right person. Others will discover an opportunity they did not know existed.
All of those forms of participation have a place.
Imagine What We Could Do Together
If one person working part-time can spend years creating a shared starting point, imagine what becomes possible when people with different ambitions and capabilities begin using it.
Not because everyone must work on the same thing.
Not because every ambition needs to be large.
And not because participation should become another obligation in already busy lives.
But because people should have more opportunities to find what matters to them and connect with others who can help.
A useful answer. An introduction. A shared idea. A local improvement. A new business opportunity. A problem resolved. A project delivered.
Each can begin with a single decision to participate.
Ideas-Shared began with one person’s ambition. Its purpose is to help many more people pursue theirs.
The Invitation Is Open
Since December 2018, the work has been about building the means for people to connect around what they want to change, improve, stop, protect, create or achieve.
Now the Global Hub is here to be used.
We are starting small, inviting our first 1,000 founding members and opening the door to the ambitions, ideas and contributions that others will bring.
The question is no longer what one person can build in their spare time.
It is what we can all make possible from here.
